I'm Richard Walters and I own and operate one of the most successful pest control companies in West Wales.
Born and raised in the area, I have over 20 years' experience of working in the pest control industry across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire.
Pests are rarely caused by poor hygiene but, people can often leave making the call to a pest controller, hoping the problem will go away - there are only a few pests that have a finite lifecycle that do not return to the same place, over and over again.
Rodent, Rat & Mice Control, Removal & Proofing in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire & Cardiganshire.
Rodents are surely the most detested pest that we deal with!
Capable of spreading bacteria and disease, it is essential that you have any rodent infestation (even if it is just one or two mice) dealt with immediately.
Rodents breed quickly and in fairly large numbers; so spotting one adult rat in the garage means there could be young in a nest.
With the young reaching maturity within a matter of weeks, they will begin to multiply too.
Rabbit Control & Rabbit Proof Fencing Services in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire & Cardiganshire.
The delight of seeing young rabbits, frolicking in the morning sunshine across the fields is a wonderful site.
Rabbits, like many other pests, are prolific breeders.
With a gestation period between 28 and 31 days, the female rabbit can be pregnant again within a few days.
Producing between 6 and 9 rabbits per litter, you can see why their numbers can become an issue.
Their constant nibbling and gnawing at crops, trees, shrubs and fencing, as well as stored food on farms etc., can make the rabbit a real nuisance.
In urban areas, in particular, foxes can be a nuisance but there is some good news: they do not pose any significant health risks and, the problem of them entering your garden and causing a nuisance can soon be dealt with.
Foxes are important in the ecological balance of the countryside.
They prey on other 'pests' that cause us many issues, such as rats and rabbits, as well as some birds.
But, the rural fox does not enjoy such a good reputation, with them attacking chickens and lambs, something that many farmers find an expensive issue to deal with.
Birds are not thought of as a nuisance, in most cases, simply because they are not.
They fly around and apart from the odd annoying bird dropping incident on the shoulder, they actually present very little issue.
When birds roost, that is gather on buildings, they are doing so for warmth and security.
The majority of birds prefer to nest in trees and shrubs, or the ground in some rare cases, but they can also find chimneys handy for creating a nest, as well as the guttering on a property and the like.
