They can often be problematical in kitchen and bar areas as sweet foods are generally preferred by this pest and that is often the reason that they enter dwellings for this food source.
There are however other ants such as ghost ants - tapinoma malenocephalum, Pharoahs ants - monomorium pharaonis and argentine ants - linepithema humile.
