They are about 25 to 40mm long and they have wings capable of flight.
Biology: They are often found in moist areas such as damp sewers and basements etc.
They can easily be transported into homes in boxes from infested premises.
Egg capsules protrude from the body for a few hours to four days before being deposited prior to hatching.
One egg capsule is formed each week until 6 to 14 have been produced.

Description: The fungus gnats are flies about 4mm in length and are small, black with a very distinctive pointed abdomen.
Biology: The Gnats are often found in offices and domestic environments; usually associated with stagnant water in plant pots and displays.
Occassionally they can be associated with bath and sink overflows and stagnant water that may have resulted from leaks.
Sometimes the Gnats breed in condensation drip trays used in air conditioning systems.
The females are parthonogenic (not needing males to breed).

Description: The grey squirrel is a familiar sight across much of the United Kingdom.
The grey squirrel is not native to the UK, having been first introduced from America in the late nineteenth century.
It is largely blamed for the decline in populations of our native red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) although in truth, this also has as much to do with the disappearance of the red squirrels natural woodland habitat, as it does with competition.
The introduced species is larger than the red squirrel, with mainly greyish/brown fur, and a white belly.
