The Brown Rat (Rattus Norvegicus) is a common pest and once established within or around a site, can quickly grow into a significant infestation if conditions are favourable and left untreated.
Rats become sexually mature within at around 5-6 weeks and are capable of breeding monthly depending upon weather and availability of food.
Litters average 7-8 pups with an average lifespan of around 15 months.
Easily distinguished from mice, rats are typically larger in size and their tails are much thicker.

Under ideal conditions the cycle can be as little as 4 weeks and adult fleas can live up to 2 years.
